There are several reasons for this spending pattern. First, giving gifts during the Spring Festival is a traditional custom in China, so people are willing to spend a lot on it. Second, many people travel during the holiday, either going back to their hometown or traveling for fun, which lead to the 20% spending on transportation. Besides, gathering with family and friends for meals is also a common activity, so dining parties cost 20%. The remaining 20% is used for other things like shopping and entertainment.

In my opinion, this spending distribution reflect people’s emphasis on tradition and family during the Spring Festival. Although people spend money in different ways, the purpose is to have a happy and meaningful holiday.
