The bar chart depicts the changes in urban and rural population in China during the 20 years.The number of urban population rise prominently from 300 in 1990 to 458 in 2000. But by 2010, this figure had substantially decreased to 666. Meanwhile, there was a slow dip in the number of rural population from 834 in 1990 to 807 in 2000. But by 2010, this figure had remarkably decreased to 674.

From my individual perspective, the tendency can be ascribed to numberous causes. Chinese society is undergoing an extensive and profound transformation, the infrastructure of the urban is improving notably, which has provided job opportunities for many people, especially for young people. An increasing number of young people believe that in morden society full of changes, challenges and chances, hardworking is indispensable if they wish to achieve success in the long run. This has led to the loss of rural population.

What about future trends? I am confident that the number of urban population will steadily increase in the following decades. In contrast, the number of rural population will likely continue to decrease relatively stable.
